Skills for Life helps children, teens and young adults live their best life through practical application of the latest in occupational therapy.
Mission
Skills for Life offers occupation-based groups, OT assessments, individual treatment and hourly consultative services to foster skill development for special populations in North Carolina.
Learning Skills
Fine motor skills – handwriting, coloring, cutting, and managing classroom tools
Executive functioning – following directions, organizing materials, and transitioning between activities
Social participation – interacting with peers, taking turns, and reading social cues
Motor Coordination- navigating the environment, participating in movement activities, sitting with stability .
Sensory regulation – managing noise, movement, and other sensory input in the environment.
Life Skills
Self-care skills – engaging in mealtime, managing clothing and personal items, toileting independence, grooming and hygiene.
Community participation – interacting with other community members, self advocacy, social awareness, and navigation of surroundings.
Body Skills
I’m passionate about using my 10+ years of experience to help others develop skills for a happy, healthy, fulfilling life.

About Me
Emily grew up in Greensboro, NC and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in psychology. She went on to receive her M.S. in occupational therapy from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2010. She has worked in adult and geriatric psychiatry, early intervention, and school systems in Boston, and the Triangle. Emily is an artist who offers classes in the community. She loves exploring the triangle with her husband and two sons.
